What is an Affiliate Program?

Affiliate Marketing is a referral-based marketing strategy (also called “revenue sharing”), where Merchants pay Affiliates a commission for referring business to the Merchant’s website. Past experience has shown affiliate marketing to be the best method to increase online sales and lead referrals.

Merchants do not pay for advertising with their Affiliates. Instead, they pay a commission to referring Affiliates for each resulting, pre-defined action (a sale, a click, an account, a lead, a completed application, etc.).

Since the Affiliate has a direct incentive to send customers to the Merchant, they tend to market their Merchant’s products or services more aggressively than an impression based advertiser.

Affiliates are provided with a unique ID for tracking referral sales and leads, which may turn into future sales (via cookies), depending upon specified repeat visit parameters. Many successful online retail merchants use this popular marketing program.

The technology used facilitates and automates the interaction between the Merchant and the Affiliates, while providing all parties with live statistics and reporting functions.

The affiliate program operates as an independent third party utilizing the personnel resources of both parties.
